ITEMS FROM THE JUNE 2007 ISSUE OF THE POSITIVE DICTIONARY NEWSLETTER Some Highlights in the life of The Positive Dictionary
Thank you to everyone who purchased the book during May. Here are some interesting examples of people who acquired The Positive Dictionary at book signings: A father who bought the book for his daughter who is struggling with addiction; A nurse moving into a management position; A tour bus driver who will take the book on his journeys; A man and a woman who play a game while traveling. Each one has to mention a word and the other one then has to explain the word. They will now use positive words from The Positive Dictionary in their game. A woman who wanted to give the book to a friend to help her in her grieving about her deceased husband. A man with bipolar disorder who suggested that the book would be useful for the Naramata Centre in British Columbia. The Positive Dictionary has now been accepted by the Bookstore of this Centre. A woman who promotes mental health. The Positive Dictionary is being acquired by people over the spectrum of life and occupations. A little boy watched him working every day, chiseling the marble away. Gradually over weeks the boy saw the head and shoulders of a man appearing and later the rest of the body. Eventually the boy saw the most beautiful statue ever made, the statue of David. In awe the boy asked Michelangelo: How did you know that there is man in the stone? The creative mind of Michelangelo was in fact able to see the man in the stone! --ooOoo-- After testing 1000 different materials for the filament of his light bulb, Thomas Alva Edison was asked: Dont you feel despondent? No, said Edison. I now know of 1000 materials that do not work. --ooOoo-- Gary Player, the great South African golfer and winner of the Grand Slam, the British Open three times , the Masters three times , the PGA twice and the U.S. Open once, had this to say about his success: The harder I practice the luckier I get!
