What is the meaning of the word 'holistic'?

Starting with the letter H, the word ‘Holistic”.’

The word ‘Holistic’ is explained as follows in The Positive Dictionary:

Holistic: Use a holistic approach in your thinking.

* A holistic approach covers all of the parts.

The world around us and in us consists of systems. There is, for example the Health System, the Education system, the economic system, the solar system, etc.

Within our bodies we have many subsystems, for example, the respiratory system, the circulatory system, the nervous system, our value system and others.

The essential point for this article is that every system is a subsystem of a bigger system and that the bigger system is again a subsystem of an even bigger system.

The department or section where we work is also a subsystem of the organization as whole. The organization as a whole is part of a bigger system, e.g. an industry or a section of government.

It is important for us to know the ‘bigger picture’ of where we fit into these systems and subsystems. We should also understand how our function contributes to the vision, mission, goals and objectives of the organization as a whole and to that of the industry and the broader system of which we are a part.
